頭の中に鳴り響く歌のようだ

２００９年６月１９日 東京 -- あるメロディーが頭の中を駆けめぐる、３日ばかりはそれから逃れられない。このメロディーを好むか好まないかは別としても、この間の思考や行動は、まるで言葉では言い表せないほどの美しさからなる一本の糸、この鳴り続けるメロディー、に連ねられたクリスタルビーズのようであった。

このようなセリフは何かポピュラーソングの歌詞からでも簡単に見つかりそうだ---"君はまるで僕の頭の中を駆けめぐる歌のようだ"---。だがこれは素晴らしい叙情的なメロディーをたくさん生み出した作曲家、ヨーゼフーヘクトール・フィオッコ（Joseph-Hector Fiocco）とアルカンジェロ・コレッリ（Arcangelo Corelli）による作品について語ったものだ。彼らの曲を息を呑むほどの想像力と豊かな表現力で三原朋絵（バロック・ヴァイオリン）と佐藤亜紀子（テオルボ）は演奏した。

ディミトリー・バディアロフ（ヴィオロンチェロ・ピッコロ及びヴァイオリン奏者）によって創設されたバロックアンサンブル「アッラ・モデルナ」は昨日１回目のリハーサルを終えた（写真参照）。このシリーズは今月末に始まり夏まで続く予定である。公演予定は以下のとおり。

　コレッリの曲についての同時代人による言葉である。「人間の持ちうるすべての愛しさ、美しさに満ちている。」　彼らはコレッリの作品が時間も国境も超えることを知っていた。また別の同時代人でパーセルの友人だったロジャー・ノース（Roger North）は次のように書いた。「今後コレッリ以外のものも享受することはできないであろう。」驚くことでもない、この偉大な作曲家はまるで人の声が語っているように話すように楽器を語らせたのだから。彼の生徒は言った。「それ（楽器）が語っているのが聞こえませんか」（non udite lo parlare?）　このように、バロックヴァイオリニストの三原朋絵は彼女の手のなかで、この音楽のイメージを一行ごとに語り、与えうるべき情感とともに生き生きと再現する。それは佐藤亜紀子によるテオルボの繊細なハーモニーに支えられる。テオルボはリズムの輪郭を際立たせ、特別な色合いをアンサンブルに添える。

通奏低音の楽器選択については、これまで充分に言いつくされてきた。楽曲のタイトルには”Violone e Cembalo（ヴィオローネもしくはチェンバロで）”と記されている。それにもかかわらず今回は、グループ創設者自身によって復元されたヴィオロンチェロ・ピッコロ、またはヴィオロンチェロ・ダ・スパッラと呼ばれる特殊な楽器を用いる。この楽器編成はコレッリの弟子のジョヴァンニ・ピストッキ（Giovannni Pistocchi）によって描かれたスケッチに由来する。そこにはヴィオロンチェロ・ピッコロ（ダ・スパッラ）を持つG.M.ボノンチーニ（G.M. Bononcini）、ヴァイオリンを持つコレッリ、そしてロマーノ（Romano）がテオルボを持った姿が描かれている。このスケッチ自体は、ボノンチーニのヴァイオリン、ヴィオローネ、テオルボのための作品３の楽譜から発見されたものである。バロック時代の音楽家は、楽譜というものを楽器編成についての正確な指示や、そして時には音符さえも、１つのヒント、目安として扱っていた 。それ故に、ヴィオロンチェロ・ピッコロ、テオルボ、ヴァイオリンの組み合わせは、３００年以上ぶりに聴くことのできる、コレッリ流トリオの１つなのである。

人間の感情がそのまま吐露するようなフィオッコの作品に涙する、このために物好きなクラシック愛好家である必要はない。フィオッコの哀歌（Lamentation)の原曲はソプラノと独奏チェロ、そして通奏低音だが、「アッラ・モデルナ」ではヴァイオリンとチェロピッコロ、テオルボで演奏する。ブリュッセル生まれヴァイオリニストにして作曲家でもあったフィオッコはヴェネツィアの作曲家ピエトロ・アントニーノ（Pietro Antonio）の息子である。彼の妹のメリッサ・アメリア（Melissa Amelia Fiocco）は美しく聡明な女性として知られていたが、彼女の２３歳での死は父親に創作意欲を失わせたという。フィオッコ自身は４３歳という若さでこの世を去っている。今回のような楽器編成はバロック時代の音楽家の間で一般的な習慣であり、「アッラ・モデルナ」もこの伝統を受け継いでいる。

「 アッラ・モデルナ」の創設者ディミトリー・バディアロフはサンクトペテルブルク、ブリュッセル音楽院出身のヴァイオリンのスペシャリストであり、１９７０年代のクイケン兄弟による伝統の復興の渦中で教育を受けた。この伝統は「歴史的事実に基づいた演奏習慣」として知られている。文化の根源に遡り、資料を再考し新たに再構築するという芸術史についての深い知識という点で、この演奏習慣の復活の運動は際立っている。これはまさに西欧美術が歩んで来た道である。１９９５年以来、バディアロフはラ・プティット・バンドやリチェルカーレ・コンソート、バッハ・コレギウム・ジャパンなどの世界各国の公演に参加し、２００５年には、失われていた小型のチェロ を復元した。これは伝統的なチェロ奏者のほかに、ヴァイオリン奏者やヴィオラ奏者が演奏することのできるものである。アンサンブル「アッラ・モデルナ」は、チェロのレパートリーのなかでも初期のものに焦点をしぼり、それには室内楽、協奏曲、声楽曲などバロックチェロをともなうレパートリーが含まれている。バディアロフ以外のメンバーは佐藤亜紀子（リュート、テオルボ）、三原朋絵（バロック・ヴァイオリン）で、彼らも既に当然と見なされている見解に疑問を投げかけ、新しい視点を投げかけるという習慣を打ち破る運動の伝統を受け継いでいる。「アッラ・モデルナ」のメンバーは演奏活動以外に、教師としても活動している。毎月１回行われるバディアロフによるワークショップ「アカデミア・アッラ・モデルナ」についての詳細はこちら。 http://dmitrybadiarov.com

LIKE THE SONG THAT GOES AROUND

JULY 19, 2009, TOKYO -- A tune goes around in your head for three days in a row and there is no escape from it. You can love the tune or hate it, however your thoughts and actions for three days are like crystal beads on a thread of indescribable beauty - that of the haunting tune.
The words as these may seem to be found easier in a review of lyrics from a popular song such as, “You are like a song that goes around in my head”, however they are about the tunes by the great lyrical melodists Joseph-Hector Fiocco and Arcangelo Corelli performed with a breathtaking imagination and sweeping expressivity by Tomoe Mihara (baroque violin) and Akiko Sato (baroque theorbo).
Alla Moderna, baroque band founded by Dmitry Badiarov (violoncello piccolo, violin), had its first rehearsal yesterday. The series of concerts are due in the end of this month and continue through the summer:

Corelli’s tunes, in the words of his contemporary, are "full of every loveliness and beauty that can issue from the human mind". For this reason they know no boundaries of time or frontiers. Another contemporary, Roger North, a friend of Purcell, wrote “nothing will relish but Corelli… And no wonder after the Great Master made that instrument speak as it were with human voice, saying to his scholars - Non udite lo parlare? " ("Do you not hear it speak?"). This is how, line by line, the music images stand up in all their liveliness and emotional clarity in the hands of the baroque violinist Tomoe Mihara, supported by the delicate harmonic flow of Akiko Sato’s theorbo emphasizing the rhythm and giving special colour to the whole ensemble.

Much have been said about the choice of Basso Continuo instruments. The title asks for “violone ò cimbalo”. Nonetheless, instead of violone the group choses the particular kind of violoncello piccolo - violoncello da spalla reconstructed by the founder. This instrumentation is shown in a sketch by Corelli’s fellow Giovanni Pistocchi. One can see Bononcini with a violoncello piccolo (da spalla), Archangelo with the violin and Romano with a theorbo. The picture itself is found in G.M.Bononcini’s op.3 scored for the violin, violone and spinetta. Baroque musicians treated the scores as hints rather than precise indications in regards of instrumentation and even notation. Therefore, violoncello piccolo, theorbo and the violin is one of the types of Corellian trio which can be heard for the first time since over 300 years.

One does not need to be a classical music freak to be moved to tears by the natural outpouring of the human heart in Fiocco’s Lamentation. Originally for a soprano, cello solo and Basso it is arranged by Alla Moderna for a violin, cello piccolo solo and theorbo. Joseph-Hector Fiocco, a violinist-composer born in Brussels, was a son a Venetian composer Pietro Antonio. Joseph-Hector’s sister Melissa Amelia Fiocco, was known for her beauty and intelligence. She died at the young age of 23 leaving her father without his main source of inspiration. Joseph-Hector himself died at a young age of 43. Arrangements were a common practice among baroque musicians and Alla Moderna continues and encourages this tradition.
Dmitry Badiarov, the founder of Alla Moderna is a specialist in baroque violins from St.Petersburg-Brussels. He emerges from the tradition revived by the brothers Kuijken in early 1970th. The tradition is also known as Historically Informed Performance Practice. It is characterized by the profound knowledge of one’s art history through the return to one’s cultural roots, through the re-thinking of the sources and building up anew - the path truly characteristic of occidental art. Since 1995 he produced with La Petite Band, Ricercar Consort, Bach Collegium Japan and many others worldwide. In 2005 he re-constructed the lost type of a cello of a small size, which can be played by both violinists and viola-players apart from the traditional cellists. The band focuses on the early cello repertory including chamber music, concertos and vocal music that involves baroque violoncello. The members, Akiko Sato (lute, theorbo) and Tomoe Mihara (baroque violin) emerge from the same tradition, the tradition that questions the established views and proposes new insights. Badiarov violin played by Blai Justo on a newly released CD

A new release on Ramee. Blai Justo plays on the baroque violin made for him a few years ago in Brussels.

In the words of Blai Justo himself: "El violín de Dmitry Badiarov que toco no está basado en un modelo construido sobre la base de principios de fabricación de instrumentos del siglo XVIII... En resumen, se trata del resultado de una serie de investigaciones sobre las técnicas de construcción vigentes en la primera mitad del XVIII. En aquella época no había modelos fijos para los violines, sino que cada constructor diseñaba sus propios modelos siguiendo unas leyes físicas y buscando un resultado sonoro determinado. A partir de la generalización del sistema métrico decimal, esta práctica se perdió para dar paso a la copia de los modelos de los grandes maestros. Badiarov ha recuperado esta técnica y la pone en práctica en la fabricación de sus instrumentos. Mi violín está construido sobre la base de un modelo creado por el propio luthier." The 5th monthly workshop for baroque players

The 5th workshop for baroque players took place today at my studio. Check the workshop schedule for the details on the future workshops (held monthly). It is held, usually the first Sunday of each month. It starts always at 16:00 and finishes with a dinner. Usually there is more playing after the dinner till 23:00 - 23:30.

EARLY MUSIC: ICONOCLASTIC MOVEMENT?

JULY 1, 2009, TOKYO -- Dmitry Badiarov and Alla Moderna - a band of Baroque music performers - play the violin Sonatas opus 5 by Arcangelo Corelli, at Opera City Omi Gakudo. The program includes the celebrated sonata La Follia. The sonata includes a bass part, commonly performed on a cello. This part is recognized by most cellists as practically unplayable. Alla Moderna and Dmitry Badiarov offer a new insight on this famous work. Concerts take place on the 1st of July 2009 at 15 and 19 o’clock. Tickets are on sale at Tokyo Opera City Ticket Center (Call 03-5353-9999).

Russian-born Dmitry Badiarov is a specialist in baroque violins. He emerges from the tradition revived by the brothers Kuijken. Since 1995 he worked with La Petite Band - one of the pioneering baroque orchestras created and led by Sigiswald Kuijken, as well as with Ricercar Consort (Philippe Pierlot) and Bach Collegium Japan (Masaaki Suzuki) among others. In 2005 he re-constructed the lost type of a cello of a small size, which can be played by both violinists and viola-players. The instrument known as a cello piccolo or cello da spalla has been played by him on a number of CDs both in Europe and Japan and recently he recorded the Six Suites for Violoncello Solo by J.S.Bach for Ramée.

Historical documents show that this type of cello was dominating in the Baroque period and a number of composers among whom A.Caldara, G.M.Bononcini, J.S.Bach, A.Corelli and others wrote their works. This changes the established concept of the cello. The size of a very large viola it uses the resonance of the room to its best advantage. With its beautiful sound at times resembling that of the bassoon or a viola da gamba, it can be played with full force without the dangers of covering the violin. Purely violinistic technique of playing allow to perform the technically demanding Baroque parts with the natural ease, characteristic of the Baroque, speaking style of music.

The band - Alla Moderna - was founded by Dmitry Badiarov in 2006. It focuses on the early cello repertory including concertos and vocal music, and chamber music such as the Sonatas presented in the above program. The members, Akiko Sato (lute, theorbo) and Tomoe Mihara (baroque violin) emerge from the same tradition, a tradition of Franco-Belgian early-music iconoclasts that question the established views and proposes new insights. ２００９年７月１日、東京にて、ディミトリー・バディアロフ(Dmitry Badiarov)と バロック音楽を演奏するアンサンブルのアッラ・モデルナ（Alla Moderna)は、オペラシティ内の近江楽堂にて、アルカンジェロ・コレッリのヴァイオリンソナタ作品５を演奏する。このプログラムには有名なソナタ「ラ・フォリア」も含まれる。ソナタには低音パートが書かれており、それは普通はチェロで演奏される。このチェロパートは殆どのチェリストによって、実際演奏不可能と見なされていた。アッラ・モデルナとディミトリー・バディアロフは、この有名な作品に新たな視点を与える。コンサートは２００９年７月１日の１５時からと１９時からの２公演行なわれる。チケットはオペラシティ・チケット・センターで発売中（tel. 03-5353-9999)。

ロシア生まれのディミトリー・バディアロフはバロックヴァイオリンの専門家である。彼はクイケン兄弟によって甦えさせられた伝統を受け継いでいる。１９９５年から彼はシギスヴァルド・クイケン率いるパイオニア的なバロックオーケストラの１つであるラ・プティット・バンドや、リチェルカーレコンソート（フィリップ・ピエルロー指揮）、バッハ・コレギウムジャパン（鈴木雅明指揮）などのアンサンブルと共演している。２００５年には失われていた種類である小さいサイズのチェロを復元し、それはヴァイオリン奏者でもヴィオラ奏者でも演奏可能なものとなった。このチェロ・ピッコロやチェロ・ダ・スパッラとして知られている楽器は、ディミトリー自身によって演奏され、ヨーロッパや日本の数多くのCDに録音された。最近ではバッハの無伴奏チェロ組曲を録音した（ Ramée).

歴史的文献はこの種類のチェロがバロック時代には主要であったことを示している、またA. カルダーラやG.M. ボノンチーニやJ.S. バッハやA. コレッリなどの数多くの作曲家がこの楽器を使った作品を書いている。このことは今までのチェロの概念を変えるものである。この非常に大きなサイズのヴィオラともいえる楽器は、空間の響きを最も有効に使うことが出来る。その美しい音は時折ファゴットやヴィオラ・ダ・ガンバの音色を思い出させる。この楽器は最も強く弾いても、ヴァイオリンの音をかき消す心配が全くないのである。純粋なヴァイオリンの演奏技法でもって、テクニック的に要求される低音のパートを自然に、バロック音楽の特徴的なスタイル、言葉を話すようなスタイルでもって演奏することが可能となったのである。

アンサンブル「アッラ・モデルナ」は２００６年にディミトリー・バディアロフによって創立された。このアンサンブルは初期のチェロのレパートリー、コンチェルトや声楽曲、上記に紹介したような室内楽曲などを中心に演奏している。メンバーは佐藤亜紀子（リュート、テオルボ）、三原朋絵（バロックヴァイオリン）。このアンサンブルもフランドル・ベルギーの古楽、つまり、既に当然と見なされている見解に疑問を投げかけ、新しい視点を投げかけるという慣習を打ち破る運動の伝統から生まれたものである。コンサートツアーは７月１日の近江楽堂から始まり、７月５日、千葉県（市川市）、８月２日、長野県（松川村）と行なわれる。ディミトリー・バディアロフのウェブサイト： http://dmitrybadiarov.com
