PRESS-RELEASE: Forthcoming concerts at Baroque je t'aime club Tokyo

The monthly concerts organized by Baroque je t'aime club Tokyo branch are going on with success, the last concert given just a few days ago by the organist Natsuki Oi. The concert was assisted by a renowned organ builder Matthieu Garnier who gave a memorable talk on the art of organ building.
The concerts are short, at most 30 minutes of music and a friendly conversation between the artist and her public - about the music, instruments and Baroque. The artist and the organ builder were surrounded by their inspired audience for a few hours after the performance in the friendly setting of the Culture International Club, which is also the headquarters of the Baroque je t'aime club in Japan.

The next concert shall be given by Tomoe Mihara, baroque violinist, on the 31st of May, as usual, at 18:00. Tomoe Mihara's style is a unique mix of musician's virtues. It is a large variety of sound-colours, vibrant yet free rhythm, deep psycological understanding of the composer's message and a very natural, effortless, direct contact with her audience. An event not to be missed!

Baroque players interested in performing for the public interested in their art should contact me or the club management for the information on their affiliation. Discounted tickets for the club members available. Club website.

Wood, sound and light

This newly arrived wood resonates only by looking at it and emits that silvery "sigh" on gently stroking long its grain with fingers. How exciting!

Coaching an orchestra in Mexico

I really enjoyed coaching the permanent chamber orchestra Camerata Santiago de Queretaro (in the city of Queretaro in Mexico) on all things baroque. The members play modern instruments, including an electronic keyboard, however they wanted to try baroque music in a more appropriate style. Although we had only one extremely short rehearsal, at most 2 hours and a half, (not counting another extremely short prima-vista) musicians enjoyed it enormously. It was a good experience which shall probably be repeated in not this year - next year.

In Queretaro, Mexico

What do you do when there is - over the sudden - a need to give a lesson of baroque violin playing, and it just happens that you are on a tour and there is absolutely no space for it? You have to cancel it and plan one year ahead in order for it to happen. Not in Queretaro! When a Mexican violinist asked me to teach her, we went to the city museum situated in a 17th century castle in the historical center of the city and asked if we could use one of its rooms. We were instantly permitted to use the space of the museum s long as we wished.
