Today I gave my first recital at Mejiro Ba-Rock Festival. The program included J.S.Bach Suites for unaccompanied violoncello nos 4, 5 and 6, performed on my violoncello da spalla - a small shouldered violoncello, the instrument for which J.S.Bach composed the Six Solos. A small part of the rehearsal was recorded by Tokyo MX TV News channel (see the video below).
The lobby of the venue was decorated with 12 selected prints (drawings and B&W photographs) demonstrating my process of creating musical instruments: when instrument making becomes art, it gives birth (or re-birth) to the new forms of instruments and musical expression, all ultimately aimed at a better, closer, warmer communication between people.
On the 8th of June these prints shall be on display at Sangushya Zoushigaya Art Gallery (3-3-13 Kishibojin Nishi Sandou st., Zoushigaya, Toshima-ku, Tokyo 171-0032) till the 14th of June 2008.
